Letter Dr. Chapman wrote

This is the nice note Dr. Chapman wrote on his company letterhead. It basically states he wants me to be evaluated for pancreatitis and bacteremia.

He thinks my belly swelling and pain could be pancreatitis, but I doubt it. I haven’t done IV antibiotics in a few months, and my belly swelling has always responded to IV antibiotics–I probably just need my IV antibiotic drip again.

I know it doesn’t look that way in most people, but I’m not most people. I don’t know if I’ve ever presented normally with anything…ever, in my life.

What really sucks about this, is that I wouldn’t even be in the fucking ER right now (“emerge” as the locals like to call it), if they could have just pulled my god damn blood cultures at the local lab, like they do in the U.S.

Instead, I got fucking forced to come here, not of my own choosing, and now I’m spending my entire fucking afternoon being dismissed and treated like shit.

I get that blood cultures might be a big deal around here, but where I’m from they used to be a weekly check on my lab slip.

I’m so friggen home sick right now. If I could click my heels together and be back at Cedars-Sinai, I would…

About hopeforanswers

Some kind of rare immune deficiency, yet to be determined. A lifetime of infections without an elevated white cell blood or fever. Very grateful to be alive, very thankful for the friends who’ve supported me and for access to literally millions of dollars worth of medical care. I’m not the bubble child, I’m somewhere in between.
