Our immune system — so much unknown

This is a comment I just posted in a Facebook group I just joined, for patients who are on IVIG therapy.

It turns out a few of us were posting how we’ve gained weight since starting regular IVIG treatment. Then someone posted that it was an impossible connection, that IVIG is a blood product and could have nothing to do with weight gain,

but I disagreed…

Some kind of rare immune deficiency, yet to be determined. A lifetime of infections without an elevated white cell blood or fever. Very grateful to be alive, very thankful for the friends who’ve supported me and for access to literally millions of dollars worth of medical care. I’m not the bubble child, I’m somewhere in between.
