What annoys me the most about hospitals and doctor’s offices…

What annoys me most about the medical world, is how most medical places don’t care about your time…at all. Medicine is a world of complete power, there’s an institutional disregard for patient’s lives outside of the hospital.

I’ve long gotten used to how this is (and I have so little going on outside of being a patient, I don’t have any plans anyway),

but I often here other patients complain about their appointment time, how much longer is the wait, etc…

*Alas*, I remember those days–I recognize that anger–they haven’t figure it out yet: save your breath, they don’t care about your world outside of the office walls.

Dr. Sherman runs his practice on time, and in the rare times he does run late, he–gasps–apologizes,

But that’s rare…

Welcome to the world of the chronically ill patient–a world where so much of your life isn’t yours anymore–

About hopeforanswers

Some kind of rare immune deficiency, yet to be determined. A lifetime of infections without an elevated white cell blood or fever. Very grateful to be alive, very thankful for the friends who’ve supported me and for access to literally millions of dollars worth of medical care. I’m not the bubble child, I’m somewhere in between.
