My smoothie recipe

(In case you’re craving a smoothie 🙂

I developed this smoothie because I was tired of stuff that’s supposed to be really good for you, and have all of these healing properties, but tastes like shit.

This smoothie receipt is a modification of an ‘anti-cancer’ smoothie I developed–this version I can get all the ingredients at Trader Joe’s, which makes it easier:

****

* frozen pineapple
* frozen strawberries (or blueberries or mangos, I like to change it up. TJ now has a ‘tropical blend’ of frozen fruits that I really like a lot, when I use that I don’t add the extra pineapple cuz it has pineapple in the blend).
* full fat Greek Yogurt…I usually use honey or strawberry vanilla flavored, but plain is good. Just add extra raw honey.
* raw honey (Manuka honey tastes the best, but it’s really expensive–Trader Joe’s Raw honey also works) * tablespoon and a half per person of Grape Seed Oil
* Coconut Water to blend (if I don’t have coconut water on hand, I use filtered water)

Then mix it up 🙂

I can’t remember the exact measurements anymore, but I used to know…now I eye ball it. Use a big heaping tablespoon of raw honey though. Tastes good too.

–note there is NO added ice to this smoothie. The frozen pineapple acts as frozen ice. Pineapple has a ton of water in it, that’s why it needs to be frozen.

–to make it an ‘anti-cancer’ smoothie, just substitute the grape seed oil for flax seed oil (you have to buy flax seed oil at a health food store cuz it has to be in the fridge–don’t get the one with ‘extra linagans’, tastes too crappy), and add freshly ground flax seeds to the smoothie as well. Don’t be lazy, get a Krups grinder and grind flax seeds fresh–Flax seed really starts to taste like shit quickly after being exposed to air–grind it fresh on the spot.

But if you don’t have cancer, Grape Seed Oil works great and tastes better.

(The oil is extremely important ingredient–not only for the feel of the smoothie, but because there are many vitamin and minerals in smoothies (and soups) that your body can’t absorb without oil. That’s why I always add oil to my smoothies and homemade soups. It’s a simple step but makes things 10x healthier for your body…I don’t think I read that on any website, I just learned that from reading about food and nutrition, and turning food into medicine, etc–)

I’m guessing it’s going to take me a few months to get my skin care recipes correct as well..:it seems so easy once you get the recipe right, but at least with my smoothie recipe it took months of research and trial and error to get it right…it’s just something I like to tinker around with, making recipes for things, my latest obsession just happens to be essential oils…
