Noah’s sinuses: Spending part 1 of my birthday at the pediatrician :(

Noah has a bad sinus infection…his daily antibiotic dose got lowered a few months ago, so he could take a chewy tablet, but I was afraid this was gonna start happening…

Noah asked the pediatrician to culture the mucus and look at it under a microscope, he said ‘otherwise, aren’t we just guessing what’s causing my infection?’

She then explained there’s lots of crazy stuff growing around in the nose, some of which may or may not be causing his infection.

Noah kept talking about it in the way home ‘I don’t understand why doctors don’t just swab patients and look at it under a microscope on the spot’, so I explained to him that’s not really possible. It takes a few days for stuff to grow to the point we can see it, but it’s not just a blind try, it’s educated guesswork…

Just take the dang pills. 😜

He’s really thinking more and more like a scientist these days. 🤓.

About hopeforanswers

Some kind of rare immune deficiency, yet to be determined. A lifetime of infections without an elevated white cell blood or fever. Very grateful to be alive, very thankful for the friends who’ve supported me and for access to literally millions of dollars worth of medical care. I’m not the bubble child, I’m somewhere in between.
