My comment about healthcare on the Miss USA article…

I rarely make comments on articles online, but the comments below the article about Miss USA’s statement that healthcare should be a privilege, were so disturbing, I had to say something…

***

There are some people, who through no fault of their own, get stuck in the healthcare system because they have a chronic illness. I’m talking about children born with genetic disorders, accidents that happen at work, as well as the ‘bad luck’ some people have and develop a serious disease, like cancer. Some people smoke for years and never develop lung cancer, and others never smoke and develop lung cancer. There’s a disturbing trend in American society to blame the sick person like it’s their fault they got sick, or it’s a psychiatric problem instead. The reason people do that, is because if the patient is ‘making it up’ or did it to themselves, then people feel they can divorce themselves of having compassion and empathy. It is deeply sociopathic and mean to think and say these things about our fellow citizens, and I hope that no one reading this comment ever learns what it’s like to have a severe and painful illness, because I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, and I hope you find compassion and empathy for those who do.

About hopeforanswers

Some kind of rare immune deficiency, yet to be determined. A lifetime of infections without an elevated white cell blood or fever. Very grateful to be alive, very thankful for the friends who’ve supported me and for access to literally millions of dollars worth of medical care. I’m not the bubble child, I’m somewhere in between.
